Female participants from developing countries are undergoing training at the Port Senior Management course organized by the Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) in Nazareth, Israel (13-24 July 2023). Funding comes from IMO through the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) global programme on Women in Maritime.

The participants are from: Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, the Congo, Cook Islands, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guyana, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, United Republic of Tanzania and Tonga.

IMO's Julian Abril participated in the opening ceremony, delivering a presentation on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic. He highlighted the upcoming obligation from 1 January 2024 to establish maritime single windows in ports around the world, under amendments to the Facilitation Convention.  

IMO has been sponsoring women to attend the  port management course in Galilee since 2008 under the Women in Maritime programme.
