The 21st session of the ICAO/IMO Joint Working Group on Harmonization of Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue is meeting at IMO Headquarters in London (15 to 19 September). Items on the agenda include draft amendments to the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual. Participants will share experiences of search and rescue operations, techniques and procedures, including the SAR response to Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. (Pic: USCG). The Joint Working Group was established in 1993 with the objective of assisting the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and IMO in developing provisions regarding new search and rescue techniques and procedures where both aeronautical and maritime interests are involved. Nearly 70 delegates from ICAO, IMO,  Member States and NGOs in consultative status are in attendance.
