A workshop dealing with the regulation of dumping of wastes at sea, under the London Protocol, is being held in Mexico City (8-10 July). The three-day workshop brings together a host of countries to boost protection of the marine environment by focusing on the regulation of dumping of wastes at sea in the sub-region and on how increased cooperation and exchange of experiences can strengthen the implementation of the London Protocol.
The workshop is being attended by Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama and hosted by the Mexican Navy through the Secretaria de Marina (SEMAR) at the Centro de Estudios Superiores Navales (CESNAV). IMO is represented by Fredrik Haag, Marine Environment Division.
