Description: MEMAC was established on 4 August
1982 in Manama, Bahrain, within the framework of the Kuwait Regional Convention for
Cooperation on the Protection of the Marine Environment from Pollution, together
with the Protocol concerning Cooperation in Combating Pollution by Oil &
other Harmful Substances in Cases of Emergency. The Member States consist of the
Kingdom of Bahrain, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Iraq, State of
Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, State of Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab
Emirates. The objectives of MEMAC are to strengthen the capacities of the
Contracting States and to facilitate cooperation among them in order to combat
pollution by oil and other harmful substances in cases of marine emergencies; to
assist Contracting States, which so request in the development of their own
national capabilities to combat pollution by oil and other harmful substances
and coordinate and facilitate information exchange, technological cooperation

Description: The Emergency Environmental Center belongs to the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection and operates within the framework of the Information and Response Center.
