Description: The Pollution Control Department was established in 1992 under the Royal Decree on the Organizational Division of Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. Its mission is to control, prevent, reduce and eliminate pollution and to conserve and rehabilitate the environment conducive for human life. The Chemical Emergency Response Supporting Center (CERSC) provides support for chemical emergencies and aims to eliminate the adverse effects to life, property and the environment. This center also enhances PCD to effectively support the relevant agencies in eradication and extermination of the mishap, including the remediation of environmental damage. Under the CERSC, the telephone system provided under Hotline 1650 takes any calls relating to a chemical emergency and provides basic information for the chemical emergency as well as other necessary data.
