Fire testing laboratories

International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures, 2010 (2010 FTP Code) provides the international requirements for laboratory testing,  type-approval and fire test procedures for products referenced under SOLAS chapter II-2 (which includes regulations on fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction).

In facilitating the implementation of the 2010 FTP Code, the list of laboratories recognized by Administrations which are able to conduct fire tests in accordance with the provisions of the 2010 FTP Code are maintained for the benefit of shipyards, equipment manufacturers, shipowners, ship operators and other parties concerned, bearing in mind that, in compliance with paragraph 8 of the 2010 FTP Code, only tests conducted in accordance with the 2010 FTP Code are allowed from 1 July 2013.

Therefore, a new GISIS module called " Test Laboratories and Halon Facilities" has been put into service, where a list of laboratories recognized by Administrations which are able to conduct fire tests in accordance with the provisions of the International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (FTP Code) are presented. The list is updated by the authorized individuals from the Administrations when necessary.
