Simposio del Día de la ciencia 2024
El simposio del Día de la ciencia tuvo lugar durante la 47ª reunión del Grupo científico del Convenio de Londres y la 18ª reunión del Grupo científico del Protocolo de Londres, bajo el tema "captura y almacenamiento de carbono (CCS) y las experiencias adquiridas en relación con las Directrices específicas de 2012 para la evaluación del dióxido de carbono a efectos de su evacuación en formaciones geológicas del subfondo marino", el jueves 18 de abril de 2024 en la sede de la OMI en Londres.

Mr. Tim Dixon - IEAGHG - Tim is the Director and General Manager of IEAGHG, an international research organization focusing on carbon capture and storage (CCS). Tim has extensive experience representing CCS in UNFCCC and other international agreements since 2004. Outside IEAGHG, he is a Director on the Board for The International CCS Knowledge Centre (Canada), an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Texas in Austin (USA), an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh (UK), an original Board Member of the UK CC Research Centre, and chairs or sits on advisory committees on CCS projects and programmes around the world.

Mr. Joe Maloney - Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) (United States) - Joe is a geologist in the Resource Evaluation Division of the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s Office of Strategic Resources. He serves as a subject matter expert on offshore geologic energy and mineral resources. Recently, Joe’s experience focuses around the development and implementation of a methodology within BOEM for assessing undiscovered offshore carbon storage resources.

Mr. Sean Bond - American Bureau of Shipping Europe (ABS Europe) - Sean is a Director of Global Gas Solutions of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Europe as classification professional with 35 years of experience in all aspects of Ship Classification. His main activities include client support for LNG carriers and other types of gas ship as well as gas fueled vessels (LNG and other), evaluation and interpretation of regulations pertaining to gas carriers and gas fueled ships, tracking and assessment of new gas technologies and business development on gas projects.

Mr. Francesco Astorri - Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) (Italy) - Astorri graduated in Geological Sciences with a specialization in hydrogeology-hydrocarbons from La Sapienza University of Rome in 1994. With nearly 20 years of experience at ISPRA, he has extensive expertise in environmental inspections, and has played a coordinating role within the CCS National Technical Secretariat, evaluating Italy’s first Experimental Project of CO2 capture and storage, “CCS-Ravenna Hub – phase 1,” presented by ENI. He currently serves as the coordinating contact person for the preliminary investigation

Mr. Masayuki Fujioka - Ministry of the Environment (Japan) - Mr Fujioka is an Assistant Manager, office of Policies against Marien Plastics Pollution, Marine Environment Division of the Ministry of the Environment in Japan. He is currently in charge if a Japanese permitting system for dumping wastes and CCS at sea. He is also in charge of policies and measures against marine plastics pollution, including a monitoring and data sharing of marine litters and plastics in environment.
