IMO-Norway GreenVoyage2050 Project launches work on low and zero carbon demonstration projects in India
Key stakeholders with an aspiration to implement low and zero carbon demonstration projects in India have been brought together at a National Stakeholder Roundtable (30 September). The online event, jointly organised by the IMO-Norway GreenVoyage2050 project and the Directorate General of Shipping of India, involved a broad range of stakeholders from across the maritime sector. These included cargo owners, ship owners and operators, ports as well as representatives from the government and finance sectors.
Progress made on life-cycle Greenhouse Gas (GHG) guidelines for alternative low/zero carbon marine fuels
An International Maritime Organization (IMO) working group has made concrete progress in developing lifecycle GHG/carbon intensity guidelines (LCA guidelines), to be utilized when assessing the overall climate impact of new fuels, which shipping needs to transition to in order to meet the GHG reduction ambitions, as set out in IMO's Initial GHG Strategy.
